There are noticeable differences in mattress sizes and availability between the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Due to the lack of international sizing standards, mattress dimensions can vary, even among those labeled as the same size, such as Queen. Differences of up to an inch may exist between brands or even within the same brand due to manufacturing tolerances, padding, and support variations.

There are a number of additional, less common sizes unique to North America, and specifically the United States, such as the Alaskan King which measures 108" x 108" or 274 x 274cm.

Canada's mattress sizes are the same as those in the United States, with no significant differences for the most common sizes (Twin, Full, Queen, and King) beyond minor variations between brands.

What are the Mattress or Bed Sizes in Australia?

Australia's mattress sizes are similar to those of the US and Canada, with most sheets and bedding capable of creating a snug fit. 

What are the Mattress or Bed Sizes in the United Kingdom?

Some UK retailers may market the ‘Small Double’ or ‘Super King’ as a US ‘Queen’, though based on dimensions, a US ‘Queen’ is closer to the UK ‘King’. As there is no standardized size, buyers should always double check dimensions when purchasing bedding.

Can you use a California King Box Spring with a King Mattress?

Using a California King box spring with a king mattress is not recommended due to the difference in dimensions. Similarly, fitting a California king sheet on a king mattress or vice versa will result in a mismatch.
